Someone’s Waiting on You to Follow Through

Matthew shows us a picture of what people will do when someone pays attention to them and addresses their real needs.  “I will follow you”, is the response of the scribe.  Jesus is not trying to discourage him as we so often read into this text.  No, Jesus has just shared something with him that he has never heard or seen in his life and his natural response is to want to be around Jesus on a regular basis but Jesus wants to make sure he understands the consequences of his actions.    Our church will not have a problem with empty seats when we pay attention to those whom God has placed in our lives and share with them something they have never had before; the Love of Jesus.
