Proverbs 3:9-10; Matthew 20:1-16

“Many churches emphasize stewardship to meet their budget needs.  Actually, the reverse is needed.  The church should teach its people stewardship so they can be financially healthy, and when people are financially healthy, according to God’s principles, they will give (tithe).

People whose lives are relatively stable are more likely to donate to a church.  Adults who experience relatively little change in their lives are considerably more likely to provide—and continue to provide—financial support to a church” (Stan Toler, Developing a giving church).

Stewardship then, is an attitude that must be brought out in order to expose what kind (of attitude) you have.  In Jesus’ parable of the Kingdom of Heaven he gives insight into the attitudes of workers who have accepted the task of working in a field (see Matt.20:1-16).

Today we explore attitudes towards money and stewardship.
