The second chapter of Genesis adds vital insight into the plan of God for mankind. It seems that we stumble upon something of great value but is little known or lightly regarded by many. God gives us the answer to much of the difficulty we face in marriage and family by showing us what the original plan was to be. He begins by addressing the first human crisis which is not what we previously assumed was the problem (rebellion or jealousy). It is the crisis of aloneness.
But God says, “It’s not good to be alone”. Can you imagine it? Most of us reason that if we had God all to ourselves we would be in paradise; but even God knows that is not true. God created us with needs that can only be met by another human being. God’s solution to “aloneness” was to create three basic institutions: Marriage, Family, Church.
