1 Corinthians 4:1-2; Colossians 1:27

The principle behind God’s Kingdom rule is that He owns everything.  The purpose of this lesson is to demonstrate that man has been appointed as a manager, or caretaker, of all that God owns.  Stewards are guardians who watch over, give oversight to, and care for the resources the Lord has entrusted to them.

In the Bible, Colossians 1:27 (NKJV) says, "To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory". Some say that this verse can be interpreted as "under new management" because it suggests that after being saved, God puts a mark on people in the form of the Holy Spirit, and that people are then purchased possessions of Christ.

Along with our new life a new role is introduced:

  • The purpose of our new life (The Christian Life) is found in 1 Cor. 4:1-2.
  • We are first servants of Christ and second Stewards of God.
