How we began...

The Centre at Highland founded in 1988, originally started as a bible study fellowship with eight individuals in a private home. The Centre at Highland, endearingly known as “The Centre” or “SBCC,” was organized with the vision of equipping the saints of God with the tools necessary to develop mature disciples, to evangelize thousands of secular (unchurched) people through presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and enable people to break free from the bondage of all manner of sin through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Centre at Highland has always been an advocate for progress in the Inland Empire and maintains a vision to improve the quality of life of individuals and the neighborhoods in which they reside. Members are encouraged to minister to the community beyond the walls of the church. Over the course of 28 years under the leadership of Bishop Philip Powell, The Centre has partnered with local organizations like COPE, Youth Action Project, Young Visionaries, IECAAC, and Time for Change, to address various issues in the Inland Empire such as the increase of violent crime, unemployment, African American high school dropout rates and homeownership for low income families.

The Centre continues to stay plugged in to the needs of the community, while inspiring the next generation to carry on the vital work that was started.
